GENETICS POSITIONS OPEN

A new non-profit laboratory and medical genetic services organization, located at Kilpauk, Chennai, seeks candidates who will work as a team to fill the following positions.  Tamil Nadu Foundation (Registered Non-Profit organization in U.S.A) Chennai chapter (TNF-TNC) spear heads this project as a mission for the Prevention of Birth Defects.  Clinical Geneticists and  laboratory Medical Geneticists from U.S and Tamil Nadu have joined to provide the state of the art service to all in need, especially the poorer section of the society.

1.Director Cytogenetics laboratory.
Educational Qualification: Ph.D or equivalent degree
Experience in setting up or long-term working in a chromosome testing laboratory (for the analysis of peripheral blood, amniotic fluid specimens, chorionic villi samples, products of conception, bone marrow and solid tumors), microscopic analysis of chromosome preparations, interpretation of cytogenetic abnormalities, maintain quality control and quality assurance, well versed in banding techniques, FISH techniques and preferably aCGH / microarray.  New graduates will be considered at a Post Doctoral Fellowship level and promoted to Director level following the Fellowship period based on their performance.

2.Cytogenetic Technologist/ Supervisor. 
Educational qualification: M.Sc or B.Sc
Experience in tissue culture and karyotype analysis of peripheral blood, amniotic fluid specimens, chorionic villi samples, products of conception, bone marrow and solid tumors. Should be able to work with the Director to maintain quality control and accreditation status and ensure appropriate workflow so as to maintain the required turn around time for reporting results and maintaining the quality of the cytogenetic preparations.

3. Genetic counselor.
Experience in interpreting cytogenetic results for families and physicians and counsel patients/families with risk figures for genetic disorders (Cytogenetic and Mendelian disorders).  Should have good communication skills in the local languages (with knowledge in Tamil, English and Hindi) to help patients and families to obtain the help they require. Cytogenetic laboratory experience is a plus although not a requirement.
